Poltergate lets you reanimate resonant drum recordings while retaining and enhancing individual attack characteristics, thanks to a unique de-bleeding algorithm that offers the superior noise reduction and instrument separation needed to bring lifeless performances back from the dead.
Triggered by the same threshold, you can adjust the gate and the de-bleeder at once to take care of audio spillover and excess mud in one foul swoop. MAIN PANEL
- THRESHOLD (-72dB to 0dB): Determines the volume threshold above which the gate opens and lets the input signal go through. It is represented in the graph by a pink line that can be dragged.
- RETURN (-72dB to 0dB): Set the difference between the volume at which the gate opens and the volume at which the gate closes. It is represented in the graph by a yellow line that can be dragged.
- FLOOR (-72dB to 0dB): Sets the attenuation gain that is applied to the signal when the gate is closed.
- FLIP (ON / OFF) REVERT ARROW ICON: Reverse the gain applied by the gate: to monitor the portions of the signal that have been gated, or allowing for more creative effects.
- LOOKAHEAD (0ms to 10ms): Allows the gates to open a precise amount of time before the input signal hits the threshold. It is a very useful feature to preserve the transients from being cut out by the gate.
- ATTACK (0ms to 150ms): Determines how quickly the gate opens after the signal exceeds the threshold.
- HOLD (0ms to 1500ms): Determines how long the gate remains fully open after the signal crosses the return threshold.
- RELEASE (0ms to 3000ms): Determines how quickly the gate closes after the signal hold time is elapsed.
- INPUT (-24dB to 6dB): Sets the gain of the input signal
- SPIKE (0% to 100%): Boosts the attacks in the side-chain signal, allowing you to set up the threshold and return gain in a more precise and easier way.
- LISTEN (ON / OFF) AUDITION ICON: Lets you monitor the side-chain signal.
- SIDE-CHAIN (ON / OFF): When turned on, lets you use an external signal as the side-chain signal.
- CURVE (0% to 100%): Interpolates between a fast and slow logarithmic release curve, allowing for different flavours of gating sounds.
DYNAMICS PANEL: Further shaping tools to achieve perfect dynamics.
- DYNAMICS (0% to 100%): Macro control that sets the maximum amount of boost provided by the transient designer.
- PUNCH (0% to 100%): Boosts the transients of the audio signal.
- FAT (0% to 100%): Boosts the sustain of the audio signal.
- ATTACK (0% to 100%): Sets the ramp up time of the sustain boost.
- DURATION (0% to 100%): Sets the duration time of the sustain boost.
- CLIPPING STYLE (OFF / AUTO / CLIP): When on CLIP, a clipper is placed at the output of the transient designer, preventing the signal to go over 0dB. When on AUTO, a limiter replaces the clipper, for a softer effect.
- OUTPUT (0dB to -48dB): Lets you set the output gain.
DEBLEED PANEL: Free your mix from any bleed between mics. All the controls are duplicated to have separate controls for both lower and upper end bands.
- DE-BLEED (ON / OFF): Enables or disables the de-bleeder
- AMOUNT (0% to 100%): Sets the frequency range that is being cut by the de-bleeder algorithm.
- MODE (SOFT / MEDIUM / HARD): Sets how uncompromising our algorithm behaves against the bleed!
- RELEASE (0ms to 500ms): Sets how quick the de-bleeder kicks in after a hit is detected, allowing it to perfectly match the decaying curve of your drum sound.
EQUALIZER GRAPH
- FREQ (20hz to 20khz): Lets you set the frequency of the respective filter in the equalizer graph.
- GAIN (0dB to 24dB): Lets you set the gain of the respective filter in the equalizer graph.
- QUAL (0.2 to 5.0): Lets you set the resonance quality of the respective filter in the equalizer graph.
- TYPE (LP / LO SHELVE / PEAK / HI SHELVE / HP): Lets you set the type of filter in the equalizer graph.
- SOLO (ON / OFF): Lets you solo the respective filter in the equalizer graph.
- EQ (ON / OFF): Hide or display the parametric equalizer graph.
